»Achtung,
Provinz!«
ruft uns Thomas Wagner in der »Frankfurter Allgmeinen Zeitung« vom Samstag, den 4. August, zu und meint die Ausstellung »Bodycheck«, in der er aber ein ganz anderes Potential am Werke sieht: »… viele glauben: Fellbach, das ist tiefste Provinz; ergo kann dort auch keine wichtige Ausstellung stattfinden. Doch erstens sind es in diesem Kunstsommer die Zentren der Kunst, die enttäuschten, zweitens hat die Veranstaltung eine fast so lange Tradition wie die ›Skulptur Projekte Münster‹ und drittens würde eine Ausstellung, wie sie Matthias Winzen und Nicole Fritz zusammengestellt haben, sofort jene Aufmerksamkeit finden, die ihr gebührt – fände sie nicht im Speckgürtel von Stuttgart und in einer alten Weinkelter statt, sondern in den Berliner Kunst-Werken oder im K21 in Düsseldorf.« Mehr dazu hier! |

Vampir kommt selten allein«So wenig man Thomas Wagner mit Vorurteilen kommen kann, so intensiv scheint man beim Berliner Magazin »Monopol« noch damit beschäftigt zu sein. Wir verweisen hier also nur kurz auf das große Porträt der Zwillinge Gert und Uwe Tobias (soeben haben wir ihr Künstlerbuch mit Zeichnungen aufgelegt), das in diesem Monopolen-Magazin die August-Nummer ziert. »Attention, it’s in the back of beyond!«
… warns Thomas Wagner from the Saturday, August 2, issue of the »Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung«, with reference to the exhibition »Bodycheck«, in which he nonetheless sees great potential at work. »On hearing the name Fellbach, many people will think, but that’s just a backwater, so there cannot possibly be an important exhibition on there. But firstly, it is the big art centres that are proving to be disappointing this ›summer of art‹, and secondly, this particular event has a tradition that is almost as long as the ›Skulptur Projekte in Münster‹, and thirdly, an exhibition of the kind mounted by Matthias Winzen and Nicole Fritz would attract the attention it deserves, were it not on in the vicinity of Stuttgart and located in an old wine cellar, but instead in the Kunst-Werke in Berlin or in Dusseldorf’s K21.
